I need to put seat belts in the six & know the best solution is to put the original belts back in. Unfortunately someone butchered my firewall & old black backpad trying to fit in non working, retractable ones (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) . I will not butcher my new Cinnamon (tan) seat backpad & will not drill additional holes into my firewall. Where does one get the old style, non-retractable belts?

Then I would call Brad Mayeur. He has all kinds of stuff hanging around.

Thanks everyone, I scored a set from Craig @ Camp914 for a very reasonable price. Might be able to get the car through inspection now.

sort of a (IMG:style_emoticons/default/hijacked.gif) but re: seat belts Im finding there are quite a variety
of the retractable style.
Different Pin and coller diameters, diff finishes, diff covers.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)
So which would be correct for a 74?

These are on all three of my LE cars Rich. If you end up with an extra matched set of OE speakers let me know I may be interested. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

The OE non-retractable belts scare me.

The buckle is completely in the wrong place for me, it ends up in the
stomach area since the short end is way too long. Anyway, these things
fray over time and the UV breaks them down so the strength goes away.

For ~$30 each you can get VW chrome belts that look 'period', are brand
new and can be adjusted correctly. I get a new pair every 2-3 years
since I autocross and they get cranked pretty hard.

This is probably it.

Bug City seat belt

This is a pic of my passenger side, pulled tight to avoid flapping in the breeze.
Both ends are adjustable and fits in the stock location. They don't use shoulder
bolts, so the hole diameter is smaller and you need to use their bolts, which are
the same thread.

Thanks. Looks like the way to go. Aside from the fact that mine are 38 years old, they are a pain to adjust.
