I've got a 914 transmission with a shot R&P, installed a good used '70-911 R&P set, have a copy of Porsche factory 901/911 transmission manual, external dial indicator R depth tool... book says start with 54.40mm (911 '70-up) R depth and figure deviation and shims from there. I am currently reading 63.21mm. what am I doing wrong? is that 54.40mm the early 901 trans with the thin intermediate plate?

Much thanks, Don.
