OK,
My blood pressure is back down within spec, and I need to fix my mallory install. I'm comfortable with finding TDC on #1, so my question is... can I re-index the distributor drive gear 90deg counter clockwise (the part that stays in the engine when you remove the dizzy)? If I can do that, it will help with clearance issues with the clips that hold the cap on. If so, can you just gently lift the drive gear and rotate it 90 deg? Seems like I remember something about a slippery little washer you had to be careful with on the Type I motors. Last, there is a small coil spring sticking up from the center of the distributor drive. I don't remember seeing it when i first pulled the 009 off, but it's there and wagging at me now. Is that normal? Many thanks in advance to the gurus!!! --jaybird |
