Dude, you are soooo lucky that the fan shroud didnt catch fire. you'd have OMFGWTFBBQ fireworks if that happened. I remember the kind of blinding light that a small strip of magnesium makes in chemistry class. Perish the thought of what a whole couple POUNDS of it does...

Looking good though. My car was that color before the PO painted it red.

Ok, I've just been doing some small stuff on the car the past few days. Cleaning up some rust, preparing for when the engine is out so that I can become a welding/ fabricating fool!!!
By the way, the engine comes out tonight!!! (Monday) Then the real fun begins!!! Also, then more pics materialize :-)

I talked to my uncle, who has a sandblasting cabinet, he said that I can use it to do my small parts, so I will probably do the tins this weekend while he's out of town.
I really need a list!!! I'm jumping all over the place on this thing!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif)
As always, any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated and heavily encouraged!!

Yes sir, that is Hamms!! I have a buddy that's totally into that retro stuff: Hamms, Blatz, Schlitz, etc...
I am actually looking forward to this, as this is my very first restore/rebuild. Not the best of circumstances, but hell, it's a learning experience!! Once I'm done with this project, I may actually take and make my parts car into a racer??? We'll see though.

Alright, I wasn't able to go to the car yesterday or Tuesday, but I was able to get over there today.
I took off all of the outside engine tins (only one left is the one that goes over the top of the whole engine. A few issues with gettin those stupid screws out!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) Yeah, that didn't go so well. I then scraped those off so that I could be ready for the sandblasting this weekend!!
After I got those off, I decided to start cleaning the engine. You see the fire completely destroyed the activated charcoal canister ( which I was told by someone that I could just forget about that and not try to find one that I could do without it??? is that true??) Out came the shop vac and a screw driver to kinda get in to where the vacuum couldn't.
Then, I decided to tackle the wiring harness for the FI. Never did that before so was a little spooked for a while, but I got over it, and got it done!!
Anyway, here are some pics for ya:

The old harness still connected
Attached Image

The old harness out!!
Attached Image

New Harness in!!
Attached Image

Parts that I'm gonna need, and I have no idea what these are nor where to get them.

Plug 1 right off of the FI harness, assume that it goes to the battery, but what else I have no clue?? Any help?? Anyone got one??

Attached Image

The other one?? Again, no clue?? Anyone with ideas or have one of these babies??
Attached Image

Well, that's pretty much it for righ now. Goin to sleep now!! If any of you know what those 2 plugs are, and or have them, please respond of pm or email me!! Thanks!!!

Ron

Ok, So I've been a little bit of a slacker on the updates but here are some:

Installed piece I fab'd for the Pass. side backwall, and made a few more pieces to finish the job!
Attached Image

Had a slight rocker problem (IMG:style_emoticons/default/barf.gif)
Attached Image
Attached Image
Attached Image

So I did a little of this (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welder.gif)
Attached Image

And ended up with this
Attached Image
Attached Image
Attached Image

Then, being the Cheap SOB that I am, I decided to be industrious and fab my own bracing (little hammer, saddle, and a block of wood) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smash.gif) and presto!!
Attached Image
Attached Image
Attached Image

And this is what I ended up with
Attached Image

Now for my next project to tackle before I put the engine back in (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welder.gif)
Attached Image
Attached Image

And thanks to Addidas, I am going to be receiving my new Computer and FI harness. ( Yes I did have a new one since the fire, but when I started putting the engine back together I realized something was not quite right??) I had received the FI computer and harness from a 1975, not a 1974, and of course the D@$N things are not interchangeable (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) So If anyone out there is in need of the FI computer and FI harness for a 1975 1.8L (L-Jet), let me know cuz I have one up for sale now (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)

I will keep y'all posted as I continue my journey. Oh yeah, I did receive flares, 4 to 5 lug spacers, a factory center console, and I just purchased flared rockers and a GT front valance.

I wonder if Pat might be interested. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sheeplove.gif)

Nope!

That's a later style ('73 & up). Already have 3 of those (why?)

If it ain't flat on the bottom, it ain't right for my 914.

Have pretty much given up hope.

Actually, what happened is that I had bought a wiring harness and CPU
And found out as I was going to re assemble, that they were for a '75 not a '74.
So I had to buy a new set:-( unfortunately it cost me 5 times as much!
Almost there though. It should be here tomorrow or Friday!!
