I use a dedicated address for my 914 lists. The only places I have it registered are here, Rennlist (but currently set to no mail), Yahoo Groups, and the Pors-chev list. I don't use my 914 address for Ebay or anything like that, I use my main address for everything else.

I'm definitly not saying they are farming emails from here, but it seems like I have started receiving spam to that account after I started being more involved here. I have been on the other lists for quite a while spam free.

So programmers, and lurking spammers. Are some list or email groups more vulnerable to farming email names?

Other users of these list. Are you seeing an increase of spam to a 914 dedicated email address? If so, which lists are you on? Looking for a pattern here.

All of the board members email addresses here are buried in a MySQL db, so they aren't going to be easy to harvest. I myself don't have any problem with SPAM, except at my work email addy. But my personal email addy mail provider has very good anti-spam software. I don't seem to get any spam on my rennlist account either - JD's doing something very well.

Generally speaking, Yahoo lists are a great place to harvest email addys. I've even had to delete accounts on my Yahoo list because they signed up just to send SPAM.

I say yahoo as well.

For the most part I only use the VW/porsche sites and almost never get spam.

I just get spam for a little blue pill once and a while. :dhead:

I use a throw away yahoo acct for all the message board stuff, and I have never been able to find a relationship between this place, and spam in my box.

I get a ton of spam for Paris Hilton videos, and viagra... I care for neither one.

Spammers.. do they actuall make a penny off this crap?

Our email is somewhat exposed in the classifieds.. but you dont run classifieds enough for that to be a factor.

I have searched peoples email address' that I know are involved with Por-Chev and came up several times with TXT based email responses from the RH board. Your dont see our BBS responses on the web or Google. We just found out recently that NONE of these posts can be found on Google. Wayne at PP is now dumping his entire BBS content to TXT file every night so the search engines can pick it up (you get what appears to be the BBS, but in fact is just a copy of it that you cannot repsond too)

I will create a new account just for the BBS and see what I come up with.
