As I am customizing my project car I am going to put better seats in it. I have seen S2000 seats in a teener and they looked good but the owner said it was a tight fit. I see all types of aftermarket seats on ebay in the $300-$500 range after shipping but will they sit too high?
914 seats are very low to the floor and being 5'11" I don't want to look at the windshield frame when I drive.
Who else has put something else in a 914 and how do they work?

I picked up some Sparcos from my brother but decided, after test fitting them, that they sat too high and took up too much space. Now I'm considering: 1) just recovering my seats; 2) turning my seats into sport seats with some tubing and fiberglass and then having an upholstery shop recover them; or 3) buying a set of GTS seats that will fit the backpad.

Hi Dan, those are nice seats (Black Corbeau's). That is kind of the look I want for my car, they bolt right in? And are nice and low like stock? Are they still available? Wonder where I could buy some. Thanks

Dan,

Are these legal per the rules? I thought the seats had to have provisions for the belts...

(I am using a Kirkey seat. Absolutely no problem with height, actually, I had to build the bracket to get the seat high enough!)

When I get home, I will take some pictures if the light is good enough.

I could probably get them to pass if I had the seat bottom reupholstered with a sub strap hole or went to 6 point harnesses, since the shoulder harnesses are held over my shoulders by the head rest posts....but I don't care...

I am not going to be doing any TTs this year with the car. I will just DE with some other Norcal groups. I am an instructor with TMR so I might do some events with them or CDS.

I refuse to run 3 point belts in a 914 on the track, so I am boycotting my own series this year...more of a statement to PCA National. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

I am concentrating on AX this season...attempting to put my little Puttputt into the top 10 this year, on a regular basis.

I like the seats since they look very period correct...I am going to be removing the backpad and rubber mat, and carpet with Perlon. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Take a look here you might find something you like. http://www.camp914.com/products/bfseats.html The LeMans seats are the most popular seat thatI sell for the 914.

I am 5'8", and I can't imagine that I am the shortest 914 driver here, but I feel like a midget (er - small person) when I adjust the seats in both my 914 and my 911. I can barely squeeze into the 911 when my seat is adjusted to the point that I need it to comfortably drive, and in the 914, I hate the look of a big gap between my seat and the backpad. Anyone else have this problem, and is there a seat that will put me closer to the pedals without making me feel like I should be singing the lollypop guild song? I have given serious thought to modifying the pedals on the 914, but pride has stood in the way.

Dan,

I was under the impression that the Corbeau Classic IIs sat a bit higher than the stock seats. Also, how well do they fit the backpad? Do you perhaps have a photo?

The Corbeau Classic IIs seem to me to have slightly better lateral support in the upper back than say the Le Mans GT seats. I sat in a demo Le Mans GT seat at the Porsche Auto Fest in Ventura last year and frankly found it to be a bit lacking in lateral support other than in the butt. They are also about double the price of the Corbeau.

Andys

I have the Corbeau Classic II's and really like them a lot. Andy is right, they do sit higher than the stock seats. It was something I noticed as soon as I sat in them the first time.

I just removed two Classic IIs from my car in favor of the Forzas because my PCA chapter would no longer pass me on tech inspection w/o the pass through for anti-sub belt. I was told I could not modify the lower cushion. My car does not have a back pad. They do sit higher than stock seats, but are quite comfortable. I'm 6'0" and my car has a formulring (sp?) steering wheel that is smaller diameter than stock. I imagine that a stock steering wheel will make for a tight fit with the Classic IIs.

I'll be offering the seats for sale very soon (look for an FS post in the classifieds) in case any of you are interested.

yea im 6'1" with stock seats and i STILL have to move my seat pretty far forward to be able to push the pedals all the way down...

sport seats would be cool, but seats are pricey!
