my garage is a disaster. it's 40x60 with a number of wonderful perks, sitting on an acre of ground, so plenty of storage room and drive around. Although the subject of this photo is a 47 harley. you may be able to see a yellow 914 peeking through the mess. Sitting next to it is my 1.7 1973, 914

Wow, some of you guys have serious issues!
Here's mine: 30x26 "2-car" garage. Looks a little different now, but still laid out about the same. Notice the color coordinated to-do list? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) |

So I'm blaming this on Joe O'brien. Joe came to pick up my 914 for a little body work, which turned out to be a lot of body work, but in the process he go a look inside my garage. I was out of town so my step son helped Joe, Joe commented to him that my garage was a mess, and what is up with those cabinets?
This quickly got back to my wife, who quickly fixed the problem by telling me that I needed to repaint the garage floor and get rid of those ratty cabinets. Several weeks later and hours of hard work, here are the results. I wish Joe can come in and commented on my wife's kitchen. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif) I did not do before pictures, as I forgot. I even added a tv so when I am banished to the garage, I have something to do. I know the checkboard is cliche, but I still like it. Next stop, kegorator. Attached thumbnail(s) |

It's not much to brag about but considering the 914 has a first cousin now to keep it company its not a bad pic. Wish I had more room in there. Maybe sometime soon I will get around to reorganizing.g it. As I am looking at some great ideas in this thread, I am feeling motivated to do that soon.

The shop where the cars are kept was great. Space was getting tight (had to shuffle stuff around a lot to get work done), however the cost per square foot was really cheap and quite frankly, I loved the space. Well, we got lucky, due to some bad luck. The building went through its normal inspection last year. The fire marshal said that the wall dividing my space with the empty space next to ours was not up to code on several fronts (the electrical was scary). The wall would need to come down and be rebuilt. The owner of the building was not happy – and neither were we, as having that sort of demolition going on meant all of the cars would need to be stored elsewhere until the process was complete (and I was damn sure not going to pay the guy rent during it all). After some talks, we came to a great deal for all involved. We would move the cars out to a different on site storage facility, they would tear down the wall – however the wall would not be put back up and we would get the additional space at an extremely reduced price per square foot. We would pay for any specific improvements. It is almost done (all the cars are back inside - just some small trim work is left). I don’t have any pics of in its current state, but here is a before and during picture. We did keep a section of the second floor and turned it into an upstairs loft that is open to below (just has half walls/ railings.). It is almost time to start hanging junk on the walls and have the local gang over for a BBQ (especially with the weather we have been having – awesome.)
Here is an old before pic right after moving in - I put in the purple arrow as a reference: In process (note purple arrow) The short wall left up high will be the railing on that side of the loft. The loft ends at the end of that wall. A post was put in and everything else was gutted. |
