Shame it's so ugly... The Edsel lives again. Except, I actually kinda like the way an Edsel looks.
Bugatti won't let The Stig drive it. They know that they would be embarrassed. |

HEY ! This was shot just next to my home ! ... I live 5 miles from the factory. I can recognise some road portions on the video.
My wife works in Molsheim. She can spot another Veyron almost every day. They road test every car they produce on a portion of open road that goes from my home to Molsheim (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) |

Top Gear loves the Veyron. They have tested it 4 times, now (maybe 5.) I think that this clip was the first time it was on Top Gear. Clarkson has gotten it twice. May once, and Hammond once. I *think* that there was another episode with it, but I can't recall. I think they kind of use it as filler. "Well, we don't have enough material for a full show. Lets call Bugatti and see if they will let us drive the Veyron some more."
Really, though. Could you blame them? Zach |

I'm not sure when it was first aired, but I watched an episode last week where Hammond raced a Eurofighter with it. Hammond basically went as fast as he could for a mile, turned around and headed back. The Eurofighter took off and climbed to one mile and came back down. They didn't make the Eurofighter land at the end though, so with afterburners ablazin' it flew over the Veyron just a couple hundred yards from the finish.
I gotta say, I love most of the stupid shit they do... - testing the idea that its cheaper to buy a car and sell it instead of renting... - the rediculous custom limos... - that cross-African trek... |

I gotta say, I love most of the stupid shit they do... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) I have BBC-A On Demand, and I can't help but watch all the episodes multiple times. I was laughing out loud during their adventure across the English Channel in a pick-up. The Reliant Robin Space Shuttle is another one that I've seen many times. I get torrents for the episodes the day after they air in England from www.finalgear.com. I usually download on Sunday, and watch it Monday after work.
Getting the BBC feed would be better, but watching the chopped up stuff that they broadcast here is intolerable. No commercials, FTW! I got their Ground Force spoof last night, I look forward to seeing it tonight. If you are interested, Final Gear has links to all the episodes of TG for the past 5 seasons at least, and they are trying to get rips of the earlier seasons as well. Final Gear also stored 5th Gear episodes, but IMHO they are not nearly as good - and I only have time to watch one. And, yes, I do mention Final Gear in each TG thread. Folks need to know about it. When you see the episode uncut and commercial free, you will have zero interest int he US re-broadcast. Zach |

I agree with Zach's sentiment. You really need to see the whole show. They have to cut our at least a quarter of the show to get it to fit in the BBC America timeslot.
With the entire show, you get things like why they were all smoking pipes during the amphibious vehicle episode. That aired during the news segment, and Clarkson had a great Porsche one-liner. You can ususally find them on YouTube/Google Videos, but its kind of hit or miss. I need to figure out the BitTorrent approach. |

Torrents are *really* easy.
1) pick a program with which to decode a torrent. I use Azureus. http://azureus.sourceforge.net/ Download the program and install it. 2) from the Final Gear site, click on the link that takes you to the DL of the program. http://www.finalgear.com/shows/topgear/ (link has every Top Gear episode back to 2002, 1993 - 1989 episodes don't have torrents attached yet.) 3) Click on the link for the episode that you are interested in. At the bottom there is a link usually called "Go get a torrent for this episode." Click it. 4) In bold blue is "Download this torrent" This will copy the torrent pointer to your computer. These steps take maybe 30 seconds to complete, even on slow DSL like me. Next step takes a little longer. 5) Start the torrent program you got in step 1, and open the link that you just copied. It will take about an hour or two or five, depending on many different parameters. I usually run the program over night. 6) Watch the episode at full screen resolution. This takes a solid hour. OKay, maybe 56 minutes. No Commercials, but they show is really an hour long. not 45 minutes and 15 minutes of ads. Once you get the hang of torrents, you will find just about everything from them. Legal to pirated, cars to porn, music, movies, games, TV. Its all in BitTorrent format. All the links from Final Gear are legal, and the site is run with the OK of the BBC. Zach |

Now I can watch the show with a better quality than youtube. I am amazed how the filming and editing is good on this show ! |

Do you have issues with viruses/trojans/backdoors? You can, to be sure. Stay with trusted sources (like Final Gear) until you understand how things work. When moving to uncharted waters, treat it like that drunk ho at the bar near closing. Make sure your virus protection is up to date (and turned on), or you could catch a nasty bug. If you practice safe surfing, chances of disease are greatly reduced. Zach |
