Does the oil in the car need to be drained out when the push rod tube seals are going to be replaced? Not sure if that's where the leak is on the new 74 I picked up, but just trying to pre-plan so I'm not changing the oil 2x. Thanks, Tod |

If you jack the car up at an angle, you're gonna take a bath from the forward tubes. The Cap'n

However, since you're going to be goofing around under the car anyway, what a perfect time to change the oil. And since you're probably taking care of oil leaks, you might want to replace the taco-plate seal, which requires the oil to be drained. Don't forget the oil cooler seals. Then fill it with yummy Brad-Penn oil. Your teener will love it! |

In 35 years of working on 914s, I have yet to see a leaking "taco plate" o-ring, unless it's been slathered with RTV, the crush washers are missing, or the bolts/threads are messed up. the Cap'n
