I feel this is also a better decision for the Atlantic cars.
Following CART around may give them more possible
dates to be a support race. I know they run an oval here
and there but it is a mojority road race series. On a side
note I can tell you that none of the top Atlantic drivers
want to end up in an IRL. Very good chance to be a quick
dead end to your career and the drivers most unfavorably
call it the Injury Racing League. The 2003 champion was
a local team run out of Loveland, CO(RuSport). Carl Russo
the owner was moving up to IRL or CART this year and AJ
Allmendinger the 2003 champ was very hopeful for the move
to CART. The CART team will also be based out of Loveland
at least for a while(a move to Denver is probable). So Colorado
fans look for AJ this year and go to the Denver race!

The decision is probably bad for open wheel racing in NA in the long run, but it is good for all the other 15 venues that TG was going to shut down and just let sit for a year or so. All those cities that have had races for 20 or more years were just going to have to cancel them. Surfurs in Australia and Molsons in Canada threatened to sue for almost $100 million combined if TG shut down the series. Who would win then.
Lets hope they can someday just amalgamate or even do like Baseball. Two series come together at the end of the year, both supporting each other not fighting with each other.

Oh ya........way to go OWRS (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Thanks Tracks, I agree that we have more in common than not. OWRS has won the day and I hope for unity in some way, maybe as I suggested before where PG runs the RR's and BB the ovals, but it would make sense to have a common technical rules package(cahaasi and engines) for both series. This would have to save money and foster cross competition for teams.
I pray for the day all open wheel racing is on the same page.

I sure would've liked to have seen dickhead tg's face when the judge said, even
though your offer was $10 MILLION more, you're a LOSER!"

It could a 'Priceless' commercial:
Hey tg,
the crowds keep getting smaller & smaller at the indy 500, you just lost in court
even though your bid was $10mill more than the others, what are YOU going to do now?

For a good summary of the IRL/OWRS/CART situation check out this article. Pretty accurate, I think.
