Planning a trip to Long Beach mid August. Meeting my daughter (Castro Valley), and grandkids (2 & 7) for a week. Any suggestions for things to do ( outside of Disney) ?????

For a day trip, I would recommend going out to Catalina Island. There is a high speed express that makes the 26 mile trip go by fast. The city of Avalon, only 1 square mile, is pretty cool, beaches, eating places, and interesting sites.

Express leaves Long Beach around 9am, a 5pm return will get you back by 7pm

I'm sure Catalina Island has a web page.
