I got four of these and they cleaned up pretty well. What's a good price to ask?

If they are real Empis they might be worth something.
If they are the American Eagle knockoffs ... about $25 per. |

I would image that there would be an EMPI logo on the backside of the wheel, but I really don't know.

those are not "real" empis. they are American Eagle or some such.
If in really good condition maybe $150 - $200. over on a site like the Samba maybe more. they are identical to these, and probably have VW offset as well. these were my street wheels and tires for the Puttputt. Attached image(s) |

here is a pic of a "real" Empi (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
you will notice the center cap is screw on not snap on. and EMPI is stamped between the spokes. overall shape of the spokes is slightly different and the mounting hub has a different look. Notice the real one does not have have spokes hollowed out to clear the wheel bolts. Attached image(s) |

Yep....fakes.....and you'll be lucky to get 185s on them and fit on the rear becasue of the VW offset.

Also, the genuine eight spoke EMPIs are a two piece wheel , supposed to be tubeless, sealed with a large O-ring! I bought this set for my then new 1971 Super Beetle and never could run them without tubes.
The '76 914 is the third car I've had them on during the past 37 years. I've been offered as high as $650.00 for the wheels (not recently!). I think I paid something like $30.00 each for them at the old AutoHaus in Buena Park, CA in 1971. Dan, the lug holes in your picture, with the step, are different from mine, no step. I can't see the ribs on the inside of the back half of your wheel, either. Is that a 15" wheel? Attached image(s) |
