HELP!!
I'm thinking about converting my 1.8 L with L-jetronic FI to carbs. Does anyone have any tips and/or instructions for this conversion? Or a used package for sale? I know I need a different fuel pump and distributor but I am not sure what else. Any help will be apprieciated. You do not need a different distributor. A lot of people like to change it out, but it is not necessary. In fact, the stock 1.8 distributor should work very well! If your carbs are plumbed for vacuum advance, you should hook that up as well for a little better "zip" and a little better freeway MPG.
Carbs, linkage, manifolds, gaskets, fuel pump. A way to run the fuel pump, mounting bracketry for the pump. A bracket for the throttle cable so the throttles open up when you actually push the pedal. There may be more... Add venturis, jets, air correction jets, emulsion tubes, etc., because you will need to tune them for your engine. A dyno is best for that, but it can be done without. But I think the stock EFI is the way to go on a stock motor... --DD |
