These are the rectangular clips that hold together the 2 halves of the fresh air box under the front cowl. I've seen them in black paint, silver paint, natural, plated, etc. What's the original color/finish??

On a '70, natural metal finish (if I'm thinking of the same part as you are).

For what year 914 would you be asking about? 1974?

The clips on my 74 are black. However under the black looks to be cad plating.

Bliz,

Thanks for asking. They're still a mess, but I'm learning to cope. Doc (latest) says they should clear up eventually on thier own. Soi far, it isn't working. But, I'm trying to be patient.

The 'bare steel' clips pictured above look awefully bright/shiny for bare steel. I'd bet those are clear/silver zinc/cad.
