Gonna try to make it but a 9+ hour round trip in one day is tough . . . got a 50 mile bike ride on Sunday that starts too early to stay over.

If I do make it I'll bring some PBC, Dock Street or Yards beer.

I hear you... last year it was over 3 hours each way to Charlottesville, with a funeral the next day.

Where in NoVa are you that you're 3 hours away from New Market?

Google maps puts Vienna to New Market at 100 mi and 1 hr 45 min. The only question is the fun route or the safe route. The safe route is 66 W to 81 S to New Market. The fun route is 29 S to Warenton, 211 W over the mountain, through Luray to New Market. I'm not sure my brakes would take over the mountain with out alot of work (which I'm planning on doing in Aug)

No lie, it's scenic & fun. It's also why I sent my LE's brakes to Eric; locked up on the way down & did not release. Now they're so pretty I can't stand it when they get dirty! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

There will be a civil war reenactment this weekend at Luray Caverns...So I have another reason to attend...

February 16 at 11:24pm. Luray Caverns
Source: www.luraycaverns.com
The Event will be located at the Luray Valley Museum & Gardens on a beautiful farm at Luray Caverns,Virginia. The site consists of beautiful woodland and open farm land, very similar
The event is open to all branches of service. There will be a bounty to the first 12 full scale artillery pieces and the first 40 cavalry per side. The reenactment is planned as a 2009 major mid- level event and is limited to 1000 participants. All profits from this event will go to The Shenandoah Valley Battlefield Foundation for the preservation of the Third Winchester site.

I have one of those white tents that you see over the bar at parties,; big enough to park a car in. Only has one side & other 3 are open but could be tarped if necessary. Also have a cople of old portable card tables & 4 or 5 chairs.

Guess I should shoot a pic & post of the spot I have in mind?

Ditto from me: Canopy & 2 banquet tables.

I'm in, by the way!

Come on Crash, lets get r cars done!

Who is bringing what?

PM me with what kinda food you are going to bring, AND post it to this thread.

I will put a list on the first post of this thread for easy reference.
  • EVERYONE should bring a folding chair
  • We are going to need paper plated, cups, knives/forks/spoons
  • We have 1 easy up, and could use more. (Remember last year?) Pledge to bring one.
  • play an instrument? Bring it.
  • Got an IOU with the Sun Gods? Call it in!
We need beer, food, more beer, and more food (and more beer).

Zach

I'll bring a case of beer and a cooler to put it in.
If I drive the wife will tail me with the gear.
If kids are coming, I'll bring the boy (6). Hide your little girls(and wives), he's a player!

I have a cosco membership and a sysco supplier (papergoods, bulk food, etc) near me so let me know what odds and ends we need.

Hmmmm...when asked for a forum password at that link, my regular password here doesn't work.

Lets get organized!
Sept 12, 2009!
Blackstain has asked that his address not be posted on a public area of the forum, in order to keep the bots from finding it.

So:

http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=97941

Click on that link to get his address and phone number (if you get lost).

The password is "ecc"

But now, lets all help Type47 prep for the ECC, coming up in the Fall of 2009!

Who is bringing what list:
  • ArtechnikA (2): big batch of pulled pork and buns. And make a Costco run for tableware. I'll get one 'whatever' of what they've got, can't promise it'll be enough for all, so we shouldn't be alone in this...
  • Zymurgist: small keg of beer
  • Type47: Hotdogs, hamburgers, buns, charcoal
  • Vacca Rabite: bottled water, soda
  • Rick L: A case of beer and a cooler to put it in.
Zach

OK, you guys with those long drives. Mine is 8 hrs. 13 min , 487.44 miles.

Not bad for a fat, 71 yr. old, with arthritis in both hips, and a bad back.

I don't want to hear any guys complaining about there drive ,unless it's longer

than mine. I will bring money or send it to the host, which do you prefer ?

I will be staying at the Blue Ridge Inn on Old Vally Pike ,is that a O.K. place?

Needs to be just clean and close ! Got to get to work on my 914 , see you all

there. Dave (IMG:style_emoticons/default/slap.gif)
