I'm trying to undo some undercar cable mess by the PO on my '74 2.0L. What is the correct routing of the speedo and clutch cables under the car after the firewall?? Do both go through the hole in the engine support bar? Or above or below the bar??

The clutch cable goes through the engine mount bar (there's a thick rubber sleeve on the cable housing that just fits the hole) and the speedo cable goes above the bar.

There also seems to be a clip (missing on most cars) at the middle of the motor, bottom of the case...there is a screw hole for it...
The clip keeps the cables away from the HE's This clip might only be on the 75/76 cable melting HE's but it seems like a good idea for any car. Rich |

What about e-brake cables, above or below the engine bar?
