I needed to put this in perspective for my own head.

The gold covered car used 40 lbs of gold for that "paint job"

gold traded today at 822. per ounce.
16 OZ per pound...right $13,152.00 per pound
40 lbs of "paint" $526,080.00

Yes this is true for 24K gold. However, Russia has so much gold that if they put their gold or diamonds on the free market gold and diamonds wouldn't be worth much at all.

I'll bet that 911 was once a rally car. Has some fairly wide rims for the fronts and the radiused wheel arches could have had fiberglass flares mounted. It also has a full cage.
