This is kind of a change of subject but, in the last couple of weeks I've seen vortex generators on Evo's. I seem to remember someone playing with those on the trailing edge of the roof. Also, it seems to me they talked about raising the trailing edge.

If I recall, the last 30 posts or so have had absolutely nothing to do with the original post on pop-up headlights... The vortex generators are similar to the dimples in that they are very specialized. If you look closely, you'll notice that on the EVO, they're not just placed on there haphazardly. Each one is carefully placed at a slightly different angle and in just the right place. If you do it wrong, it makes things worse. If you do it right, it makes things better. They do work, but its not something that's easily adapted by the average guy to their own specific application - it would take a great deal of research and windtunnel work to figure out the optimal placement for the 914. Any of you guys got a windtunnel? |

Back in the day when my car still had headlights and I would run a DE or a timetrial on a race track I would turn my headlights on as a was braking for a turn to get that little extra braking effort.
No I didn't. Just fooling ya. |

Mike, I am going to use Ury's quote for you since it does make sense (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
"Plan and simple: Spoilers don't work when you drive as slow as most of you do. But when I drive my car they work and I don't have headlights." That's why I am building a splitter and doing the rear like JP's car (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) |
