I broke this down into sub groups so we can track each item to conclusion. Only post in the information about awards in the thread.

I read something about this but we need to lock this down.
Who is in charge of Awards.

Are we making stuff or buying stuff?

Either way where's the money coming from?

Are we getting door prizes for participants from vendors?

Are we going to have goodie bags to hand out with "T" shirts and stuff in them?

I vote no sponsors...I dont want this to get out of control on the first event.
The idea is to just get together..and actually have people show up..that would be a first positive step..

914 events are not always attended in droves out this way so we probably can be low key.

If one of our little team here would like to shake a few branches to see if sponsors would like to contribute, go for it.

For awards, I think we can stick with pictures, mounted in frames that represent all our sarcastic thoughts.

I think two awards should be recylable..or re-used.
Best Beater is not an award that should be kept...the previous years winner should choose the next years winner..that would make it alot of fun.
Best Beater should be an egg beater mounted on a wooden plaque.

Same thing with the most creative.
The most creative could be an award built by Chris Foley out of all sorts of used parts welded together into art...
If we get Chris to make this, and then choose the winner...he might also give that person a door prize...
It could be Chris's award to create, choose and give out each year.

For me, anything more than that is fun, but it requires all sorts of admin work to line up and I am not sure the vendors really get anything of value out of it...just my thoughts.

Hi,
I contacted Brad and Andy.
I have asked them to judge for one award at the concours.
We (the planning team) will find three potential winners.
I will take pics and send via my phone to both Andy and Brad.
They will choose the winner.
Or, they may show up for the event...so that would make it easier.

In any case, I would like for them to get some recognition and I think this could be alot of fun.
If they are not there, I can hook up my speaker phone for the award part of the program...that could be cool.

I provided a list of all the awards that we already talked about...I said choose one of those, or make up a new one...sarcasm is the key.

I've filled goodie bags for golf outings, tricky trays (school fundraisers), etc....I'd like to make some calls to local Porsche/car places to see if I could come up with some stuff....

Not too confident, times have changed over the past couple years; people not as generous.

I'm going to assume "40" 914s so "50" or so packages.

Thanks for stepping up. I agree times are different now. Money is tighter. Lets see how this develops. I like the keep is simple idea but the past events I've attended all over the country have had some hand outs for attendees.

I had a nice conversation with Ray yesterday morning. He really seems to have a way with vendors. He told me he was getting some real positive responses from his initial cold calls!

Ray, Do you need a flyer or a mailer? Maybe an email attachement flyer with a link to the soon to be website?

This brings us back to the art work.

Yeah, soon as we have consensus on what banner changes need to be made, or what logo folks like, we can start look at having stuff made.

Couple of things:

I know Ray has been working tirelessly to get freebees for goody bags. That's cool. But in the final hours we still need to plan for a inpromptude car show.

Here's my thought, Peoples choice with a small receipe card size ballot.

I think we should place a post it number on every 914 on the windshield at the bowling alley.

Limit the catogories to:

Best 4

Best 6

Best 8

Bravest soul (scariest car that made the trip)

Any others?

Trophies:

Old hub caps, Valve covers, and what ever we can assemble at the event table during the swap meet.

Let's not get serious about this at this late date. We can still have some fun handing out brown paper bags with used parts trophies at the dinner.

What Say You?

Chris Foley is making a broken cam shaft for the "bravest soul" with a case of Brad Penn Oil...??

AA is providing:
shirts - runners up
914 AA poster - runner-runner up
700 Tech Tips - probably for someone that needs it
Tune up kit - acutally a good prize for a "winner"

Stable Energies:
Shirts - runners up
gift certifs - good prize for safety stuff (AutoXers)

AutoHaus:
who knows....collecting the day of. Hopefully I could just pick good stuff.

Evil:
CV Bolts - maybe throw numbers in a hat and pick

Brad Roberts:
keeping my fingers crossed he brings stuff. Probably more tees and hats. - runners up

my wife informed me I got a delivery today...I'll assume AA's stuff arrived. Got a call last night to pick up Stable Energies stuff tonight.

I'll package stuff up as well as I could guess what would work for awards or prizes. Just so there's one less thing to do before hand.

Stable Energies gave me 4 gift certificates:
3 - $25
1 $300 value coupon for a crazy camber/sway bar thing. AutoXers would appreciate it...probably alot.

If we could think of a way to distribute these gifts Saturday during the swap. So it could be redeemed right on the spot. Stable Energies is transporting their entire store to Hershey. They have a huge trailer and tarp store front.

Hold a drawing right after the drive in @9:14 saturday morning?

Would encourage folks to all come in together.
