Hi all...When I was here, before my resto on my 75, I would see
a cry for help once in a while..... HELP!! #1-Anyone out there have a set of New or Lightly used Rear Shock Springs..1/2/3 Green Stripe..OR know of a pair somewhere?? I did place an ad WTB..But no bites..Need to be OEM..please.. #2-Does anyone here plan on coming to Colorado and entering their car (914) in the Porsche Parade 2009.. OR just coming in General...???? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) Thanx Rx |

As an east coaster, I'll say that missing the Rockies in a Porsche would be terrible. Trying, trying, but not a lot of hope. Takes too many days off. Pat |

I will try a pair as the Stock OEM are Mega NLA.... they are at 90lbs and are to be right and correct... So that solves the rear shock spring search..!! |

Good to know there is a sub. I think the Weltmeisters are 100 lbs and shorter. Have you tried your local Porsche dealer out of curiosity?

Tweeks has been gone for a while...(they would have been the only Cat. place to possibly keep a pair in stock) ....My new pair of OEM's 203's in the box that I got from A and J years ago..(Promised to my nut n bolt resto 73 2.0)..Looked as if the box was from the early 80's.... BUT it still came thru their dealer via PCNA Reno warehouse at the time..Years ago I was set up with a dealer such as Perf. Prods is etc...But my dealer got canned by PCNA...and due to the fact that even then ..prices were on a week to week fluctuation..I decided my 10 to 20 % mark up was not worth the effort..This Was Before eBay dayz too!!! |

Knowing that the factory springs were long discontinued and unavailable and also that the original four springs were just too weak and sagged, we duplicated the six springs for a little more fortitude but still very very stock height. One of the leading spring manufacturers in the country made them for us and we are absolutely delighted with them. I HATED the after market springs as I could not achieve stock height without adjusting the spring plate on a bilstein and the ride suffered (in my old age!!)
The so called rating is different according to how measured and I do not know how this 90 100 120 140 165 and 180 stuff started, but here is how it is calculated: http://www.pontiacracing.net/js_coil_spring_rate.htm (for example). Anyway my black 58000 mile car was sagging but is now a perfect stock height, still with its original boge shocks, after installing these springs. |

 I just removed a set of springs from my '74 with 54000 orig miles. They look like the ones on the pix above with the green markings. However, they had a paper part no. tag -see attachment (if I did it right!) , wrapped around the coil. I find it hard to think these paper tags were preserved since '74 unless they were preserved from the elements depending on their location under the car. Now, I am wondering if they were original or not. I sent a few PM's out to some experts but thought I'd also post here as an FYI to others and to ask for other opinions. So, original or not, and do they have any value?? Thanks Steve |

If that tag was on the spring, then it was a replacement part.
OEM springs sagged after a few years, so unless a set was NEVER used, it would be toast by now. |
