The 1972 Westy is on the road.
(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/live.staticflickr.com-1435-1765900413.1.jpg) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/live.staticflickr.com-1435-1765900420.2.jpg) Its still very much in test and tune. And with salt now HEAVILY on the road that has paused until we get some rain to wash the salt away. But it has made successful 10 and 20 miles drives including a run up the freeway - as fast as its little 1.7 T4 mill could go. Which was 65mph on the down hill and 45 MPH in 3rd at the top of a big hill on i83. Decidedly more comfortable to drive on secondary roads at 55 and slower. Zach |

I've not had time to touch it yet, but I also picked up a 1987 Vanagon GL Syncro.
The engine runs, but the hydraulic system has failed so there is no clutch or brakes. And I've done totally nothing to it to investigate. I'm sure its going to need a full breaks redo and I already have the parts needed to redo the hydraulic clutch. And I want to replace all the fuel system with modern rubber - hoses, o-rings, all the crap that starts fires once it fails. I prefer the Vanagon to the Bay Window, and always have. But my better half feels the other way around. Both have full width beds. I may put a pop-top on the Vanagon, or may not. She pretty solid. Maaco paint job on the rear quarter that had failed, so it will need that fixed. Or I may just fix and sell. At this point I have too many cars.
