(IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) All right NE guys, Mark Allin of Precision Automotive Restoration in Newburyport, MA is open to hosting a get together in his shop after March 10th. I'm thinking Saturday morning March 20th to start around 11:00 a.m. to allow for travel time there. Short hop for you New Hampshire guys. Mark has a beautifully restored original 914-6 GT in his shop and several other restoration (non-Porsche) projects in house. Let me know if the interest is there and I will volunteer to put this on.

So is this the sort of response you received re the School House Ice Cream get together? Kinda makes planning hard? Where the hell are all you people? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

William,
Can't make any commitments at this time. Too many Porsche activities to pick from plus time needed to tinker with my three rides. I'd like to see the GT again. As Dave said, we saw it up at Scalli's about 3 years ago. I think the car once belonged to Ralph Meaney back in the 70's. Interesting history. Keep at it. Some will go when you get closer to the date. It's just a full day to drive up and back. I need to get some brake work done.

Like I said at the last event, I had to call the owner of Schoolhouse to tell him to expect anywhere from 6-36 people. I heard from no more than 10 people before the event... and that was from all the posts on Rennlist, Pelican, and here. Oh, Rennlist and pelican had posts on all of the model lists.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) OK, sort of "if you plan it, they will come" Well, I'll just go ahead and plan to do this March 20th at 11:00 a.m. Don, sorry you can't make it but I promise to take lots of pictures and post them. Do I understand that Mark's car is the Scalli car? Man, I don't think so, unless Mark decided to do a color change. Pat's car was Green, Mark's car is orange/red. What's up with that? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) Any how, hope for a good turn out.

You expect me to drive all the way to Newburyport from W. Newbury? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol3.gif)

I will go barring scheduling problems.

I have a bunch of close-ups of different areas of the GT which was at Scalli
2.5 years ago. It was just a tub on a rotisserie.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) Mark: I must be confused. Do you know the green GT car that was displayed at IRA Porsche a couple of years ago? I thought that car was the Scalli car? Must be a different car. The GT displayed at Ira was a local car and had a well documented race history. Who owns it? Hope to see you at Mark's shop.

IIRC Pat owned a GT but had sold it, and this primer car was not his.

The green car that was at Rennsport and Monteray prior to that was Patrick's car, then Ed's, and now I don't know who's. Mark's car was the one in primer and is now signal orange. When I was there a few weeks ago it still needed quiet a bit, but the chassis was in paint and the suspension hung.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) Seems that Pat was the lucky owner of two different GTs, "sister" cars so to speak, perhaps even raced in the same livery. So the former green race car (I guess, so it is claimed) is now signal orange. Well whatever, it really is a very special 914 piece of history and I am looking forward to the meeting. Hope to see all you lurkers there. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif)

Saturday 3/20/2004 is on the calendar. Will need directions etc... Weather could be sunny and 60 or damn cold and spitting rain. I will drive the appropriate vehicle for the weather.

Any pics of the last gathering? I was in England abusing my liver in pubs.....

I will post detailed directions within the next few days. Man wouldn't it be nice if the weather was like today. Almost felt human again. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/boldblue.gif)

Don't worry, the snow will be back... it always does. My guess is the next big stom will be just before or on March 20. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Yes, this event is still a go as far as I am concerned. Have not been able to reach Mark Allin over the last week - I believe he has been involved in the Amelia Island Concours. I will check with him first thing next week and confirm and then post details, directions, phone numbers, etc. After the get together at his shop I suggest we plan a trip to Essex and stop at Woodman's for fried clams and seafood for those so inclined. I will supply coffee and donuts for the visit to Mark's shop. More details to follow. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
