could you show me some photos of various cars,
to be exactly, I'm interested in the VIN that's stamped in at the top of the passenger side fender I mean, not in the VIN itself, but in the stars in front of and behind the VIN what does it look like - exactly as an example I show you the VIN of a 1970 914-6 I'd like to see if there's a difference to the MY'72 six ... should be exactly the same. The two 72 models as well as the 72 916 have the exact look as the 70 model 914-6 models.

George, would you be so kind to take photos of them, where we can see the whole VIN including both "stars" ??
recently I've seen a MY'72 VIN between two "stars" that looked different ... more this way (sorry, just a hand-drawing from MS Paint): Attached image(s) |

The two 72 models as well as the 72 916 have the exact look as the 70 model 914-6 models. maybe you should really check this ...? your comment made me check my 916 files and I found out that the VIN of both blue 916 is between two "stars" like in my hand-drawing ... so it might be the correct look any proof of other MY'72 VINs (914.2.43.0xxx or 914.2.33.00xx) would be highly appreceated (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bye1.gif) Gustl |

I found this on Armando's site. Not the best example because the stars are not defined very well. Actually only the star at the end is visible and even that one you can't see it very well.

thanks Steve - it's pretty clear that the star at the end is the same style than on my hand drawing
at least it's definitely not the MY'70 style ... |

Not a good pic, but from my 72. and it's clearly visible that it's the same kind of star - thanks (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumb3d.gif) and thanks to the others as well (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pray.gif) |

I misread your post thought that you meant the style of the plate and stamping. The 71 models have a regular five point star on each side of the number the 72 models and the 916 have the "starburst" type star with the multi lines.
