This car has stainless steel heater boxes. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

This car has been sprayed with undercoating. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

They even drilled and filled the longs. You can see the plugs they used to cover the holes in the door jambs. The bottom of the trunk is sprayed and the anti-roll bar. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Do I need to cut off the old muffler heat shield from the rusted trunk floor and weld it on the new trunk?? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

Glad to see you are working on the car. I remember it had a really good
sound to it. How are you going to replace the floor pans? Are you gonna
drop the engine and rotisserie it?

I don't have a rotisserie so I'll have to figure something else out.

Maybe I'll build some plywood rockers and put it up on it's side. No, that's a crazy idea. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/screwy.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

C'mon Paul..

You lived in Florida long enough to know that if you DON'T apply undercoating, you have a car with a severe case of Florida Cancer.....

And, undercoatings are handy to hide rampant cancer...... er I mean cosmetic blemishes.....

All those years in Florida taught me to buy a used car with a faded paint job and aincient rustproofing rather than a shiny newly painted one with newly redone rustproofing...

A little expanding foam or a foil patch, a sanding block, and an application of rustproofing and it's better than new.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

The rusted sheet metal is now out. I bought this little die grinder to help get into those hard to reach spots to grind the welds down.

$23.99 at Northern Tool. I know, cheap tools never last. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif)

I also have a hole at the left side bumper bolt. A patch should work here easy enough.

It gets hidden by the bumper so it isn't the prettiest weld in the land...

This is the inside. I filled in with seam sealer so no water gets between the old and new metal:

I've cut the new trunk floor to fit and have test fit it. I'll be drilling holes in it and will be "spot" welding it back in. The welds are really more like rosette welds, easier than trying to continuously weld up the edges. I'll cover the seams with sealer.

I have weekend planned. Of course I'll be watching the 24 Hours of LeMans as well. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_flagge6.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_flagge24.gif)
