Looking for the best carb fuel pump and a regulator that I can put in the engine bay...prefer a regluator with a gauge.

Fasect ( sp) seems to be the most popular one, I have had my 914 since

2000 never a bit of trouble. I even have it in the engine bay. vapor locked twice

in that time. I think P.Parts has them, or Performace Parts. Dave (IMG:style_emoticons/default/slap.gif)

I picked up a Carter at the local FLAPS. No pressure regulator, just a gauge, and mine's mounted up front in the stock ('75) location.
Steady pressure without the rumble of a Facet.

CB Performance rotary fuel pump which is actually a Carter. It puts out 3.5 lbs pressure so no regulator is needed and cost somewhere between 50-60 dollars.

CB rotory is the best deal. I had a holley blue, Holley 1 to 2 pressure regulator and an inline gauge. Worked great but it costs 3x the CB pump. The Holley pump has a high pitched whine when running. Some hate the noise.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) Works great, decent price, quiet. Facet's are LOUD.

I haven't had mine long enough the judge reliability, but my facet makes a tap-tap-tapping racket.

I like Facet for both pump and regulator. The clicking is distinct enough to let you know it's working and stops when it's up to pressure... you can't hear it when the car is running. It's also a clear indicator if you have a fuel leak.

Here's a link to Racer Parts Wholesale with both of their pumps. I've used both of them in multiple cars with good results.

The cylindrical pump is far quieter, but they are both self-priming. I had mine mounted on the front firewall along with the fuel filter housing. That way I could change the filter without completely draining the stock tank. Now that I use a fuel cell, I still have them both mounted above the tank with no problems.

Now I use a -8 supply line and a -6 return for FI. Bigger is better for good flow.

Good luck,
~Ron

Midget with a machine gun. . . (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I've had a CB (Carter) rotary pump in my split window bus for going on a decade now with no problems and no noise either. Dead reliable and priced right.
