In checking my oil today, I thing my dipstick is too short. After wiping it off, it looks like it may have been broken off at some point. What should a factory six dipstick look like or how long should it really be?

My first new 70 914-6 had a welded or silver soldered lap joint somewhere around the mid point. Never knew why.
