Well, I promised some announcements this week. This is what I was wanting to announce. Unfortuantely the left and right sides aren't ready yet. I've been told next week. I have the jigs set up for these and have started to put together the tops, this is actually a bit more work to get correct than I thought, but after burning up about a dozen pieces I finnaly got it right. If you haven't guessed by now. Yes it's the 3 part main targa seal. I've been working on these for quite some time now, since I heard the original tooling was no longer viable. The good news is these will be less expensive! The will also utilize the aluminum clip system so they will not rust, and I've hopefully made them slightly easier to install. Another thing I did was to extrude the top seal 6 months before the assembly of the seal. This is because rubber will shrink over time, after it has had some time to be 99% cured it is as dimmensionally stable as you can get. This is natural rubber like the OEM seal, not a sanaprene or other plastic hybrid. It is more flexable, and I have them cut so you will not have to stretch these to make them fit. The corner blocks look OEM and have the screw hole to mount them onto the top corner frame. Product availability - these will be ready to ship in 3 week and will ship in order they are paid for. I'm not taking any money yet, but would like to start a list of those who want one. These will be $149 for those that sign up. After I have a few ready I will start shipping. After this "pre-sale", they will be $175. WIth the assembly time on these I will be able to process about 5 per week ( hopefully a few more). -Mark I am in, tired of the rain |

top seal, top seal, top seal, yippy!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif) "...and there was much rejoicing." (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif) Mine just split for the summer (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) so I'd like one too. Heck, I'll save you (or me) shipping and drive out with cash to get one (if shipping from Hillsboro)! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) |

Added 7/27/09
Finally go the first part assembled and installed. I did make some changes to make it easier to install. 1- The clip that holds it to the top is aluminum, and it is installed seporately. This allow you to move around the edges and them set into place. I then took a little glue to tack it to the seal. The tolerence is close enough that it almost dosen't need it, but I put som on to hold in place. 2- I reduced the track tolernece by a few thousands and you can push the sides in without any problem. This make it much easier to get it where you want it. The first picture is of the clip mounted edge. this is the clip that will hold the seal in place. The next picture below show me installing from the drivers side, and how to push the sides into the track. the 3rd is of the right side installed Last is a picture of the seal in 2 parts. I will start having these available 8/10. The production will be about 1 per day so these will move a little slow, but to get these put together does take some labor, and cure time with the bonding. I hope to be able to improve on this somewhat, but they are a bit of work to get right. The only problem I noted is that the seals on the roof will need to be cut back more to get a perfect fit, but these were some of mine that I had cut to fit exactly and with the new rubber they're about 1/8" too long and compress up against the "plug" on the main seal. I will have one "extra" that I will have available from the 1st article run that I'll post in the classifieds. I will start sending out payment details Monday, they will ship in order recieved. Installation took me about 45 min. I did have to wrestle witht he corenes a bit. They were moled from OEM dimmensions, but aparently they are a tight fit with the sides on. The corners have the metal track extend into them and there is a center section that need to fit into the body on the frame. See attached
