A couple of weeks ago 2 friends and me thought it would be cool to attend a bike event.
Target would be a famous glacier, the "Rettenbach Ferner", where the FIS ski world championship starts every fall.
Due to the bad weather conditions of the last weeks, we didn't think that it would take place.
But ... exactly yesterday the sky cleared and turned perfectly blue.
So we took the challange and started in Sölden at 1,377m (4,518 ft).
The target was the base station of the glacier at 2,670m (8,760 ft), the road is exactly 12 km (7,46 miles) long.
All this sounds like torture ... and yes, it was.
Just to imagine ... I'm "a little" heavy ... I'm 280 pound (IMG:style_emoticons/default/yikes.gif)

anyhow - I did it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif)

what a breathtaking scenery, especially if you go up there by bike ...

I still can't believe that I made it

here are some nice shots:

turn 4, at 6,152 ft

about half the way:
