so what exactly is the proper oil filter for a 1.7L ? because on the driver's side wheel well in the trunk there's some stuff written for the type of oil filter but idk if it's right..

Bosch filters are NOT what you'd call good filters. Mann, Mahle, Hengst. Those are the brands you want. Anything else is just not the right thing to do to your engine.

BTW, a PH2870A IS NOT the filter Fram lists for a 914. That filter fits a VW water cooled engine. Here's something worth knowing about Fram filters: VW/Audi lists at least 5 different oil filters for water cooled gasoline engines; Fram lists one as fitting them all.
