I got a set of tires from a friend. They're not bad and I'd like to use them BUT at some point someone (my friend) spilled paint on the tires. I am sure I will wear off the paint on the threads, but there is some on the sidewall.
Is there a safe way to take that off without compromising the rubber in the tire? It's home paint, not automotive grade. TIA |

Sandblast, fast and won't hurt the rubber.

ive heard a small amount of gasoline will remove it and a brilo pad, not sure about if it will compromise the rubber or not, but gasoline will probably get rid of it

Can you mount the tire with the painted sidewall facing inward?

Curbs, I use curbs.....
Works every time.. Ditto the break fluid but be sure to clean it off after the paint is gone. Keep away from the wheels if they have paint..... |

You could try MEK(METHYL ETHYL KETONE) and a rag if the less aggressive methods fail. Available at home depot and such.
