It is off of a 911. However, it will work in either application.

Actually a 911 neck will not work very well on 914/6 oil tank.
it does not fit or seal that well

I thought the diameter of the pipe is identical. So it does not make a lot of sense to me why it would seal differently. In both applications the filler neck is connected via the in between rubber hose.

Here is a link that states contrary to what you are stating here:

I had asked before I purchased it at the local porsche salvage yard

914/6 neck is 46mm
911 has a 2 diameter neck 45mm bottom 48mm on top.
the position of the dip stick is also different

the rubber sleeve only seals the connection

ok so your assertion is that stretching a rubber hose an additional 2 mm would be more prone to leaking? being very pedantic I concede that are not the same. However, I really dont believe that an additional 2 mm stretch on a rubber hose is going to cause leaks.

I am not trying to start anything here but since you asked...
the 6 filler fits into the oil tank up to the bulge (see picture)
the 911 neck is half 2mm undersized and half 2mm oversized, this makes it so the neck will not properly seat because it only goes halfway in.
I am not sure what others have used to test fit this?? I have both necks and an NOS tank and these are my observations.

ok so the step down portion will fit inside, the hose will be going over the 2mm over size, I still dont see where this would not work. I have had both as well and it would seem that all of your posts were to provoke some sort of issue since owning both I cant imagine that you intended to purchase a third filler neck or possibly your a filler neck hoarder biggrin.gif

At any rate for those interested you can follow the link above to see where other respected members of the site state it will work ...
