Anyone know the backspacing on a western wheel, and how different is it from the spacing on a fuch or other OE wheel?

Second, what is OE backspacing?

Third. Does anyone know how big a tire you can put onto a western wheel (since its obviously not the correct spacing for a 914)? beerchug.gif

I got a set at home....I can measure.

I do run 205.50.15's on mine. I think that it is either a 5.5" or 6" wheel.

I did have hoosiers on this wheel...but my fenders are rolled...a lot...

I seem to remember that the back spacing is 4.5"..again I have to go measure.

Here they are on my car. I've ran 205/60's and 205/50's they fit perfect both ways with no fender mods.

BTW, be ready for a little ridicule. They are not popular with everyone.

I love them on my car... but I'm decidedly weird

Damn forgot that pic again.

Sold a set at a swap meet.

A guy came up & asked "how much for the wheels?"

I says "125". He says "each?"... I says "nope, all 4"

He says "Wait for me to get some money at the ATM, K?"

I measure it as 4". I've got 195/50 X 15 Yokos on them.

You are correct...I get 4".. overall, with 205.50.15 falken's, I get right at 5 inches, edge of tire to mounting flange...

I had a set on my car when it was a street car. I had 180/70-15 on it. Strange size, I know.

I love this picture

I picked up a set (oxidized) with pretty good 195/60R15s for $100 complete. I had to roll the lip on my left rear quarter, but that quarter panel had been repaired at one time.

Now my car has really old 165's on it.

You guys have had no problems running 195 without rolling the fenders? confused24.gif

Jd, see my pic above? those are 205/60's. No fender rolling!!!!!!! I got 205/50 Kumho Ecsta's now. SWeeeeet!

Nice. beerchug.gif

Before know I didn't think that 205's would manage.

What kind of rubber should I get for spirited street driving? Jim.

Disclaimer: "my" Western's have no clearance issues. I cannot say "all Westerns are created equal". Next time I will go back to 60's. 50's just don't fill the wheel well, and the speedo is about 10 mph off. I will stay with the Kumho's. Moderately priced and "very sticky" for a street tire.
