Are there any stores that carry the Mahle OC-28? Or is there a better filter to use that I can find at a local store?

Sucks that shipping costs more than the filter from Pelican!

Any decent VW specialist should have it. It was used on aircooled T2s until 1983.

Any VW bug shop will have it. The dealer has the OEM. Cases of filters on ebay

Are the bosch ones so much worse? Picked the Bosch one up at Autozone on the corner. I'm only asking, and hey, at least it's not a fram.

I bet they run down the same production line, sometimes different parts, but same line.

The Bosch filters we get here are made in the US by some big filter company. I would only use them as a next-to-the-last option. As always, 914 owners have NO PLACE in a chain store. "Move along, folks, there's nothing here for you".............

There are still a fair number of independent, quality foreign parts stores in my area where parts like Mahle filters can still be purchased locally. Try that.

CarQuest had the spark plugs I needed...so sometimes they do come through! Didn't hurt to try.
