I know you'll get great fresh new info in this thread, but just a heads-up: This subject has been covered thoroughly for years and there is a TON of great info in the archives already here.
The challenge seems to be, how to find it. Try experimenting with search here. Ironically, using Google to search this site is often easier and more effective.

Do a Rotary or Subaru-4 conversion, they're cost efficient. Unless you're looking into selling the car later on to profit off it being a converted 914-6.

Try:
http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=1528Dan has made several conversions; there are many conversion threads out there though.

If you are not attached to your car it would be less expensive and quicker to sell your /4 and buy someone elses /6. Conversions add up fast.

yes d one will be a Subaru (red one) or maybe the 911? motor in the $1000. that pretty good.
the white car is very nice never been in a wreck so I was thinking 6 down the line.....way down the line.

so far you have gotten sound advice. One more and this is hardly worth the money but auto atlanta sells book (really booklet) itemizing parts.
If you are going forward it is minor change to what you will spending...Everyone has their own direction.
My one suggestion, price all parts as a budget and check total...then look around for bult car. Better yet buy one (conversion with broken motor) and take all parts....Seek and you WILL find.
Newest PAtrick motor sport mounting is best I haev seen....many cheaper but not very good . Ground clearance issue on some.
