Full Version: Does adding MSD improve a stock FI car's performance?

I read a claim somewhere that adding Multiple Spark Discharge ignition would add
10% more horsepower to a car (not specifically a 914). I was wondering if anyone
has done any testing on our cars to see if this is a worthwhile improvement to
cars with stock FI?

I was curious about this because after insuring everthing is in spec and
working smoothly there does not seem to be a lot of bolt on horsepower or
torque available for our cars.

Whatcha all think? dead horse.gif

You already have the only bolt-on component that will add 10% more power, except for a turbo. smile.gif
MSD won't help much.

it will start easier, run smoother at low to mid rpm. no extra power, no 10% to be had. it will make you feel faster when you look at it.

Yet to be tested on a dyno, but I do think it burns more efficiently...so your volumetric efficiency is better.

It might create more HP...dunno. I do know it gets about 3-5 mpg better mileage with the multi spark system.
