Just curious? rolleyes.gif

If I were thinking about doing a 915 into my car, which year or years of 915's would I want to find at a great price?

Also,

anyone have short gear ratio recommendations?

Thanks,

Bill P.

The 72s had some sort of weirdness with the input shaft seal, or one of the other "sort of maintenance" parts that don't have a replacement schedule, but are good "while you're in there" parts. The weirdness means you have to tear the whole transmission apart to replace that one bit.

This mis-feature was corrected in the 73s, I believe.

are the 73-86 915's basically all the same?

There are aluminum and mag cased 915's dont remember which years though. I think... or was that 901's... laugh.gif

I think 78 - 86 915's are aluminum.
I think the 911SC was the first to get the aluminum trans to handle the extra HP.

Do a search on this site as Brad covered this in detail last year. He posted all the things to look for and what to look out for. Lots of these trannys have been run hard and have problems and cost $$$ to fix.
