Looking at these pictures I can't help thinking that no one loves the 944
anymore. If someone would start making oversize main bearing for them,
and you adapted some of the cheap turbo technology all the imports are
using, you could have 500HP with rear wheel drive instead of FWD like all
the JDM clunkers.
I wonder how long before the 944 pulls out of its nosedive and imitates the
356 and 914? Maybe 10 more years? You'll be telling your grandkids about
how you could have bought 944s for $1500 all day long back in ought-nine...

They already are. The prices have been leveling out in the last couple years and I am starting to get more and more people looking ofr a nice re-paint on them. The problem arises when they buy one and take it to a reputable, and knowledgable shop to have it serviced for the first time. These cars have been treated just like bugs and 914's were for years. Original owners took care of them, they dropped in value and broke ass lower level kids and idots bought them and beat the crap out of them. Now people want them but do not realize what goes into bringing them back to life. A good friend of mine has a mechanical shop right across from me and has 2-3 roll in and out every week. Most have a 1500.00 plus bill on them, just to get it back on the road. These have all been non turbos except for one. I have been a big proponent of these cars for years. I also have, and will continue to defend the shit talked 924. It is no different than a 914. Underpowerd, undesirable, yet alot of fun with minor upgrades. Mainly suspension. Turbo cars are still very sought after, and also very expensive. Very nice ones bring 12-15,000.00 then there are the Silver roses and the turbo S cars. $$$$$$$$$$
No need in oversize bearings. The bottom end on these cars is almost bullet proof. The top end is the problem. Belts, mis-shifts, and overboost is what kills them. that and backyard mechanics without the proper knowledge and tools to work on them properly.
