Ok...I was at the body shop yesterday for hopefully my final set of pictures before the finish coat of paint is applied. Bodyshop asked about the engine lid and the color under the steel mesh...they asked if it should be black or the color of the car. I actually can't remember what it is supposed to be and the previous paint job on this car was such a hack job I have no clue if it was correct. Should it be the color of the car or should it be blacked out?
Anybody have pics of that area both ways?

They came the color of the car. Don't know if I've ever seen black

Under the steel mesh should be a flat black, but only on the top side. This matched the finish of the grille.

Actually, it's a little more like 30% gloss, or "satin" finish.

I've seen it both ways; IMHO the black looks better.
