How about we put a turbo 1.7L in it?

To bad there are not to many options for a automatic trans, would make it easy for the shift linkage. Keep up the good work. beer.gif

Would a 928 V-8 bolt up to a Boxster Trans? They've got automatics.

(not that I expect anyone to take this random thought seriously, I might be working on my post count)
McMark
I still can't really believe how smoothly this project is going. I figure another month or so and we'll be installing interior and thinking about motor/trans.

Yeah! Nice progress guys!
Heeltoe914
What a great job guys. Fast work to.

I think you should start a "Donate to the Limo Fund" but the donation is parts?

I am sure you guys have already been thinking about this stuff but??? Here is some parts I was thinking about;

Wood bar with leather trim.
Intercom system
Seats
SC front end for vented rotors
Bigger brakes
Shift bar parts
Longer clutch and gas cable. etc....
How about the MR2 setup of cable shifting??
914 interior bits, window cranks, crome cover for the locks,

Things that we can send to you to help the project come along. Just post what you guys need team work.

Why did the firewall come out? I would have thought a privacy partition would be in order? Electric window?

I wondered tha too... I would have left it in to separate the front and the back for a sense of privacy and to stiffen the chassis.

Not my vision in play though... Rock on boys. Crazy fun project... blink.gif

Much better access to the longs and side-panels that still need to be stitched together.

If we decided later that we need some sort of partition, it'll be easy to add.
But for now, ease of access to the parts that still need additional reinforcement and work was the key.

Three guys wanna head over to the beach in a four seater 914, you wanna be the loser in the back by yourself? rolleyes.gif

This way four people can ride and converse easily. Having sat in the chassis with the firewall and without, I wouldn't build it any other way.

I'm gonna stop calling it a limo, cause a real limo would be built completely differently and would have things like a privacy screen. This is the 914 Saloon.

Which way to the beach!!

(Actually, wouldn't the loser be the one with the black coat and cap that's driving the thing? The rest should be passed out drunk in the back... behind the partition.)

Isn't the sole purpose of the partition to avoid open container laws? Might want to reconsider....... shades.gif

I don't know about that:

The limousine body style has a divider separating the driver from the rear passenger compartment.[2] This partition usually contains a sliding (often soundproof) glass window so that conversations between passengers in the rear compartment may be kept private from the chauffeur. Communication with the driver is possible either by opening the window in the partition or by using an intercom system.

No matter what you call it the chicks will dig it.

That is proven to be the best way to test the strength of your longs and suspension console.

Nice car.

The Feb. Excellence has a 911 sedan that is in the spirit of your project. Chick Iverson also had a VW bug sedan. Would a 944 sedan look like a Panamera?

We reached the cleanup & patch phase. smilie_pokal.gif

Today, we removed the mid section of the center tunnel. It'll be replaced with a custom (removable) version. It'll be nice to be able to access everything inside the tunnel in the center section of the car.
We'll have to run all custom cables, wires and fuel-lines etc.. The new tunnel will be narrower and lower than the stock tunnel.

We also patched the sides of the floorpan. The mid-section requires some creative metal bending. We'll add that next weekend.

The rest of the day was spent cleaning up and prepping the side sections around the inside of the targa bar to door post transition.
That part will also be patched in next weekend.

No.1, girl in purple on the pole needs a wax or shave.
N0 2, HD channel just showed a Ferrari Medina(?) Limo. They have Gull wing doors for the center section, and race seats with 5 point harness stacked behind each other. I took some pics, will look for a link , however. Interesting take.

Novelty limousines

Sometimes an "inappropriate" vehicle is converted, simply for the novelty. Hummer vehicles have been converted. Another novelty conversion is the East German Trabant which was designed for a low manufacturing cost and incorporated body panels made from a rag fiber and plastic resin material. Volkswagen Beetles, Fiat Pandas and Citroen 2CV vehicles are occasionally stretched into limousines.
