Apologies as I am sure this has been documented, but I could not dig it up in search...

I am looking for a documented thread on installing a 911 front end swap into the 914. I have a 1986 911 front end and I am now preparing to install it.

Thanks in advance,

Bolts straight up. Depending on how you have it at this point, up can roll the old out and bolt up the 911 up in same way you take out the old. Are you looking for a step by step procedure?

installation is the reverse of removal, as they say.

I was just checking if anyone had documented it yet. I also have a couple extra/new pieces like the aluminum cross bar and a big, thick sway bar (I assume).

Otherwise I will document what I learn...

Sounds like you have an SC front end. It's still a bolt for bolt exchange with the worst part being aligning the splines on the steering gear. Your 914 MC/Rack cover will not fit.

The big sway bar is the underbody swaybar. You should have hoops on your A arms with rubber bushings in them. The ends of the bar go in those.

The aluminum crossbar just replaces the steel one.

And don't forget the tabs that hold the back of the cross member to the body. They mount to the same spot as the mounts for the underbody sway bar.

The steel cross member has those tabs welded on, but on the alu member, they're removable. You need them!
