Ok, so the stereo gets "hardwired" this weekend.

Been awhile since I put one in.... and there's 3 wires in question:

1. The Lead wire, the one that makes the stereo work when the ingnition is on.

2. The standby wire.. the one that maintains the clock settings and memory

3. The ground

Which fuses are for 1 and 2?????

Suggestions on a good grounding point???

Chances are I could figure it out once I crawl in there, I just figured I'd ask first, and avoid mistakes.

Thanks!!

Fused - The size of the fuse depends on if it is the main lead wire or the switched IGN wire. You should put a 1-2a fuse in the IGN wire and a 10-20a in the Main Lead wire.

Fused - This one can be a smaller one

3. The ground

Not Fused or Fused with same size(or larger) fuse as the Main Lead + wire. If the fuse is smaller than the main fuse your sterio will not work properly or may not work at all.

Mine has a bolt sticking out that has a strap from the back of the radio attached to it. Any good solid chassis ground will work. My general rule is the shorter the Ground Wire the better.

The stereo is brand new, and it comes with inline fuses..... I was more concerned with the car fusebox itself.

I have not removed the fusebox from my car yet. I know on newer cars, the fuses will be labeled "ACC" and "IGN".... are teeners labeled accordingly??

If not.. I don't have the books.... which "number" fuses asre correct?

ie: "the third from the left" or whatever.

BTW.. it's a 72 model.. not sure if it makes a difference

Fuse #1 is on the left (for reference).

Here is what I would prefer for the radio hookup:

Use fuse # 9 for ignition switched.

Use fuse # 11 for battery power.

The forward side of the fuse is the output side (protected by the fuse).
