This is a video which shows the exact car I am looking for photos of to make an accurate 1/18 model of (test version, not raced version). Go to the 25-30 secs point of the video, and it shows the 917/30 in preseason testing with the all of the mods I want to recreate. Can anyone help?

Rod,

Yes, I need both more and higher res photos of this exact version (Penske car in preseason testing). I looked at the 480 option on YouTube, but not any better.

It is not the RC Cola car, because this is the tail the the Porsche guys cobbled up for Mark to try. Mark wanted the maximum top speed a long tail could offer, but the Porsche engineers didn't see the need for it since only Riverside had a long enough straightway to see any real benefit from it (sadly, they choose to use the short straight configuration for the Riverside race, and the car''s full top speed potential wasn't seen). The RC car was similar to this, but totally different cars (917/30 vs 917/10).

So, to make a terribly long story short....YES I need anything you have on this Penske preseason car.

Thanks in advance.

There are two die cast models of this car available, one from Racing Legends that is white and referred to as the "mule." The other an orange Jagermiester version by Mini Champs. The latter version was the car as it was raced by Vic Elford and sponsored by Porsche of Austria. Both are available on eBay from time to time.

Go to google.com, and do an image search for "917/30 porsche" and you'll get a bunch of pictures.

Scott,

I've done this dozens of time over the past 6 months or so. I found lots of things for other projects, but almost nothing on this version of the car (preseason 1973 testing with new long-tail configuration).

I will continue to check from time to time, because Google stops you about 50 pages, even though there are LOTS more matches found. Depends on how recently a photo is viewed, picture do change, and occasionally new images do appear.

Thanks though.

I have a book.....yes, a book.... even in this age, titled "Porsche 917"
written by Peter Morgan. The last couple of chapters are on the 917/10/30......it even has pictures so ya don't have to move your lips all the time. It covers the Penske cars well....even the adjustable length frame.

I have the same book. Real pretty pictures.
Maybe I'll scan them.

URY914,

If you can, I'd really appreciate the scans. If you can't post them here, here is my email:
