I did not want to hijack the arm bushing thread for this question but in reading some of the responses I got that the arms should move freely up and down by hand?
I just recently replaced ball joints and tyrods and had to use a jack on both a-arms to position them for the ball joints. So is this wrong? by the why it's 72 1.7.

Thats because you still had the torsion bars in place. If you remove the torsion bars, the A-arm should sswing easily.

Don't worry about it. I really should have mentioned the torsion bars in my initial post.

Feeling stupid is what you do when you post a request for information on if my knocking noise might be a chain tensioner problem on my 914-4. That was my very first post here a little over three years ago. And the folks whom responded were very gentle in explaining my problem wasn't related to a chain tensioner lol-2.gif

Now that was a stupid post!
