This thread probably won't last long, as I expect this will be shot down in short order, but... Would it be feasible to convert 914/4 heat exchangers to a six configuration by adding a separate pipe outside the shielding and merge it down past where the shielding ends?

Heat should be just as sufficient as if they were mounted on a 4. Not sure about pipe diameter vs. the various six headers/exchangers...

Where I think this will be shot down is in the area of cylinder spacing and access to the head mounting studs. However, I am wondering if these two could not be overcome?

Please fire away. I can take it. Just throwing it out there, as I have never seen this discussed.

I'd give you a short answer, but I think a long, detailed, one is in order. No.

I promised this discussion wouldn't last long, and the good Cap'n held me to my word.
