What should one plan to spend for a PPI at a reputable garage vs the dealership for a 996? Is this a universal service in that one can expect the same level of service from garage to garage? What SHOULD I ask be checked?
Is it typical or customary that the prospective buyer picks up the entire cost or share the cost or even deduct from purchase price?

Typically the expense of the buyer. The nearest Porsche dealer would give you a rough idea of the cost.

Usually the buyer pays for the PPI and negotiates the price down based on any items that need repair based on it.
BTW, a PPI is always money well spent, but even more so in a 996 IMO!
