I spotted euro style front indicator lenses on AA's website last week for $39.50 for a pair. They were too good to pass up, and it's not like there are a lot of sources here in Oz, so I grabbed them.

I assumed that for that price they'd be repros, but these are the real deal - German Hella's.

That's it, now I'm going to have to do the WHOLE CAR to match them.

If you ordered them from AA last week and already have them, then you did REALLY well!!! clap56.gif (Sorry, I couldn't help that...like many people, I've had mixed results w/ AA).

We are so spoiled here in California with the wealth of local Porsche suppliers and knowledge we can choose from.

Out of curiousity, are there any parts houses in your part of the world, or does everything have to be shipped-in by the retail buyer?

Thats who I got mine from, ordered them last summer and about 9 days later I had them. Good price also.

Yeah, I was suprised that they arrived so fast.

The 914 parts situation here is not as dismal as I first thought. I've been in touch with a few people here who seem to have stockpiled parts when they've travelled. It seems like a few people shipped parts cars over, and there are rumors of a couple of container loads of parts that are somewhere waiting for the market to pick up, and the 914 to become the next 356.

The Porsche centers here can get anything that's available from Germany. My missing windscreen will set me back around A$600, plus fitting, and the chrome trim is around A$240 for the full set. Six weeks delivery, too.

The 914 was never brought out here by the factory, so there is not a whole lot of aftermarket support.

The local VW scene is full of Type IV engines due to the late Kombis, so engine wise we're OK.

Cheers,
Rick

Oh yeah, I lived in L.A. for six years and bought my 914 the week that I arrived. I have heaps of stuff in storage that didn't make it onto the car before shipping it over along with books, cd's guitars, amps, etc. all stored in Hollywood for three years, waiting to be shipped when I finally get back over there to deal with it all. (Long story - my wife got sick and I had to get her home asap).

S&H was US$15 for Fedex Economy air.

My total ended up being around A$73.
