I am trying to get this car in great shape so in 7 years (hopefully I'm done) my boys will have a real cool ride. What do you think the availability of parts be in say 10 years. Should I start to stock pileing parts and maybe a new engine?

I'm betting that most parts will be available for a long time to come...some body and trim parts get harder to find, but most all can be fabricated...lots of aftermarket

I am mostly worried about engine and rebuilding, Not many places still work on type IV (Jakes a special case) but I cant go to GA to have mine redone. Will Jake be doing this work in 10 years, I hope so.
Jeff I will post a bigger shot of my white painted bumblee tomorrow in the members 914 pictures post.

Parts availability is relative. Compared to a Chevy small-block, it's terrible. Compared to a Citroen, it's fabulous. Considering people in the US manage to keep 50 year old Citroens on the road, I wouldn't be too worried about it. There are plenty of other engine builders of the Type IV than Jake. He may the best one, but he's not the only one.
Another metric: there are always tens of pages of items on Ebay resulting in a search on "Porsche 914". Do the same search for "Alfa Romeo", and the list is slightly smaller, but covers all dozen or so of the models Alfa made over 50 years, while the Porsche search is just one model made over only 6 years. I just sold an Alfa to buy the 914 mostly because parts are scarce for the Alfa, and some parts are impossible to find.

just buy a -6 for it. There will ALWAYS be 911 guys! LOL!

The next 10 years? I think with in the next 10 years there will be parts that can't be found now and parts found now gone. There are a few hard core guys that are working on making parts that are hard to get to sell to their 914 friends. The rubber parts will more than likely be the hardest parts to find 10 years from now.
