Has anyone tried building up the metal like on the 70 hubs by welding? I hear so many people crying how thin the later hubs are. Any ideas on if this would work or not?

I am sure you can add material and then machine it off but that sounds expensive. Find a good set if you have to have them, I have a set stashed. The regular hubs have enough material for the studs if you tack weld them to the hub after the stubs are inserted. I only think the early hubs are needed if you AX alot or race with wide tires. I have 4 sets of 70 hubs but I have a No3 wash tub full of the later hubs, just trying to figure out what to do to make them better.

Why, just machine flat the surface where the stud mounts for the 5 bolt pattern and then after drilling the proper size hole, press in the studs. Lots of metal for that.
