I put a set of NPR 96mm P's & C's on my 1.7 back in '96, and then picked up a spare set cheap a couple of years later.

So what's the deal on them? Are they worth keeping? Down the track I'm thinking about a 71mm crank, mild cam and aftermarket FI.

This will be for a street only car.

They are an old school design, but are very good..

Their cylinders are actually round, and actually of the correct cast iron content, unlike the new ones today..

Ensure that you balance the pistons (I have seen them tremendously out) and do NOT use Grant rings with them. The Hastings rings tghat we use were copied from the NPR for the ring width, they should work on an NPR piston.

I spoke to someone recently who was running the same 96's with spacers and a 78mm crank. Does that sound reasonable for a street driven car, or is that pushing things a bit?

At what point does the stock cooling sytem start to fall behind the heat generated?
