What happens when the tach wire is attached to the + side of coil instead of - ? Does it cause permanent damage ? Reaon I ask, I've taken apart two ignition harnesses and found the tach wire covering melted even though it was deep in the harness.

usually just smokes the wire in the ign wire harness.

Try a PM to the "Harness-meister" Jeff Bowlsby, since he's seen so many, & he may know?
